Wear Today

Inspired by the fabulous outfits that Creature Comforts and Melissa Loves create each week for their joint feature Chic for Cheap, I have decided to create a new feature for my blog: Wear Today, in which I use the magic of Polyvore to design an ideal outfit for the conditions of my day–weather, activities, events I’m attending, etc.

Where Chic for Cheap aims to provide great fashion choices for a reasonable price, I’ve decided to mostly ignore cost  in my designs. My real-life style is dependent upon cheap choices, so I’d rather just ignore cost when it comes to ideal fashion choices. This may change in future posts, but for now I’m just rolling with it. Let’s get started!

Today, it is mercifully cool after a string of 90 degree days, but it’s also rainy. Today’s outfit is rainy day wear that is dressy enough for work, while still a cute and comfortable option for the walk-through I have tonight at the house my husband and I are closing on this week! Enjoy and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!

Today, please try to do at least one small thing to help the environment so that this kind of natural beauty can remain a part of our world.

Beautiful Running Paths

Yesterday, my husband and I went for a 10 mile run that led us through many different parts of Baltimore–some good, some a bit unsavory. The great thing about doing these long runs is that I get to see areas of the city that I have never seen before and probably wouldn’t go to otherwise. There is some really beautiful architecture in Baltimore and some areas that, while not the safest places to be, really make for lovely running paths. So in honor of yesterday’s run, here are some other paths that I think would be enjoyable places to run.

Dangerous, but pretty.

At Park Guel in Barcelona. I actually ran through this park when Dan and I visited Spain in July of 2006. It was very crowded and hot, but an awesome experience and nice little run.

Inspiration Friday: Song I Love Edition

I was listening to my iTunes library on shuffle yesterday while cleaning my bedroom and this song came up. It had been a long time since I last heard it and I was struck by what a lovely little song it is. I can’t get it out of my head now.

Have  a happy weekend! I’m going to be back to more regular posting next week.

My Mom

My mom came to town on Friday night to visit me. She is leaving tomorrow morning and I’ll be sad to see her go because I really love my mom so much and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Luckily, I’ll be seeing her again in May!

Inspiration Friday: Love You Edition

dsc_6587_2Last night, I felt very lonely. My husband is out of town and whenever he is gone (even if it’s only for a short time) I end up missing him more than I probably should. I dropped him off at the airport yesterday and my heart sank a little as I drove away. I was watching TV last night and turned at one point to tell him something–the show triggered a memory of a story from earlier in the week–but, of course, he wasn’t there. I told the dog instead, but he just panted a bit and wagged his tail. Not quite the same.

So today I’m feeling inspired by all the little ways in which my husband has improved my life. Miss you Dan!

-He introduced me to Matzoh Brei, which is delicious and served as both my breakfast and my lunch today. That’s right, I made a ton of it.

-He helped me develop a love for running, which is a handy way to burn off the calories gained from eating a gluttonous amount of Matzoh Brei.

-He’s responsible for my ability to feel ecstatic about the Tigers leading the Rangers 15-2 right now in the top of the 9th. And he’s also responsible for my caring enough to actually follow the game so closely on Game Tracker.

-Whenever I’m walking to my car in the morning to head off to work and I pass by his car on the street, I can’t help but smile and it gets my day started on a happy note.

-I slept in one of his sweatshirts because I’m a total scaredy-cat about being alone in the city at night. Even though the sweatshirt was too warm to be truly comfortable, it made me feel safer and I slept better than I would have without it.

-Because I know he’ll read this post and even though it’s totallly cheesy and sappy, he’ll love it anyway and think that I am cute. Plus he’ll probably blush while reading it and thinking about that makes me smile.

Have a happy weekend!

Opening Day

Inspiration Friday: Dr. Seuss Edition

The man was such a genius:

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

I’m sorry to say so, but sadly it’s true that bang-ups and hang-ups can happen to you.

From there to hear, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.

If you never did you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.

Dan and I are heading down to D.C. tomorrow to check out the cherry blossoms, visit some museums and allow ourselves a little bit of fun while we let go of our bang-ups and hang-ups. Have a great weekend!

Gotta Represent

Penny Plastic had a post yesterday about Ork City Posters. I went to the site to check them out and holy hell they have what I’m deeming a Michigan one! (They call it Great Lakes).

I think it’s awesome. Totally want to get it.
