It has started raining. This morning, it was warm and lovely. I took the dog for a walk before work and needed nothing more than a light-weight, zip-up hoodie. Now, it is raining. A cold front is supposed to be moving in and we’ll be back in the mid-40s by tomorrow morning and back to the 30s with a chance of “wintry mix” by Sunday.

For now though, with the rain falling lightly and the temperature holding steady around 60, it feels a bit like spring. I’m sure that feeling will only make it that much harder to bear the return of cold, crummy weather, but right now I’m rejoicing and feeling inspired by the thought of umbrellas and galoshes and the smell of the earth bouncing back to life.

Have a fantastic weekend! My parents are coming to visit this weekend and we’ll be attending the NCAA Lacrosse Face-Off Classic. Very exciting!

Cheers!

I think any of these vintage posters would be an awesome addition to my new dining room. I didn’t intend to focus on beverage posters, but just found that all the ones I liked best fit that category. I guess it’s been a long week! Any advice on which one I should get?

You can find all of these and thousands more here.

As of this morning, my husband and I are officially under contract for our first house!

You know what really sucks? Everything leading up to going under contract for a new home.

You know what doesn’t suck? Actually being under contract.

Big sigh of relief, a small happy dance and we are moving on to the home inspection. Fingers crossed that everything is smooth sailing from here on out!

Bookworm

I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.

Anna Quindlen

I love to read and I love to write. Ergo, I love books. I love the way books feel: the slick, coolness of their covers; the grainy, dryness of the pages. I love the way they smell and the way they look, lined up on shelves. And I love these prints, all featuring books!

Sometimes A Chickpea Is Just A Chickpea. Other Times, It’s A Meal.

I’ve got a new post up at my other blog about a quick, easy and absolutely fabulous recipe featuring chickpeas!

Chickpeas are a great way to add protein to your diet, without adding lots of fat.

A Space to Place My Feet

I saw a post on The City Sage about oversized ottomans and now I totally want to do this in my new house (if and when I get one!). I think this purple one is my favorite.

You can see the rest here.

Inspiration Friday

Book Girl by Sandra Juto

Today, I am feeling inspired by the ridiculously windy, cold weather to just go home, curl up on the couch with a warm blanket and a mug of hot tea and spend my weekend reading. I’ve been incredibly busy lately with home-buying stuff and massage therapy school, so I haven’t had much time to relax and read something for pleasure rather than study. I recently started reading Midwives and would like to make a big dent in that this weekend.

What about you? Any inspired weekend plans? Currently reading any good books?

Check Out My New Mantra

This week has been a good one for me and has left me feeling very inspired and excited for things to come. There are two really positive things in my life right now and I couldn’t choose between them, so I’m including both in this post.

First is that my friend Anabel  is coming to visit this weekend. It has been over a year since she’s come to Baltimore and I’m really excited for her arrival this evening. Plus, my excitement for what is only a 2 day visit has really open my eyes to the fact that distance does not equal death to a friendship. Anabel lives in Michigan, I live in Maryland, but we still talk pretty much every day and I cannot wait to see her.

The second thing is that I have finished my first week of massage therapy school and feel an overwhelming sense of pleasure and satisfaction with the decision to enter this program. I’m really looking forward to having class again on Monday and cannot wait to learn more and delve deeper into the training. I’m feeling very excited and confident about my future in this field and the possibilities that will be open to me. I’m also already thinking about how I could combine massage therapy with other interests, like mental health and writing, in the future. It is really a huge relief to think about this past week and know that I made the right decision.

Yay Husband!

I just had a bouquet of white tulips delivered to me at my office with a note that read: Surprise! Happy pre-Valentine’s Day.

And bonus: they are from a local florist instead of some big chain like Pro Flowers.

Thank you to my lovely husband. They really brightened my day!
